Winchester School of Art
We are proud to be one of the UK’s leading art and design institutions and part of the world-renowned University of Southampton. We are an international centre for ideas and have a long history going back almost 150 years.
Our highly-contemporary and global outlook ensures we can meet the challenges of the creative future. We have collaborations with Elisava, Barcelona School of Design and Engineering in Spain and Dalian Polytechnic University in China. These are equipped with state-of-the-art facilities and are supported by the Department of International Studies.
Our staff are leaders in their fields with extensive experience across art and design. They are up-to-date with current practices and are committed to providing quality teaching.

Head of School
Ed, the head of school, is a designer, an artist and an academic whose practice brings together both the theoretical and contextual thinking about design and art. Much of his internationally published work and exhibitions have centered around economic, political and social change focusing on identity, location and context with a critical focus on India's relationship to the West.

Life in Winchester
Next to the campus lies the City of Winchester - packed with a lively atmosphere and many bars, restaurants and cafés; Winchester School of Art boasts a brilliant and stimuluating learning environment. Only 11 miles away is Southampton - a multicultural city with thriving communities from many parts of Europe, Africa and Asia. Many of these communities have their own shops, restaurants and meeting places. The University Students' Union has many clubs and societies run by, and for, students from particular countries, with shared faiths or other common interests. We are also within easy reach of London and just ten miles from the vibrant, south coast city of Southampton. Winchester city centre, railway station, bus station and halls of residence are only a ten-minute walk from our campus.
Tuition and Scholarship Information
For 2015 and beyond, the University will continue its generous package of direct student support, with a wider choice of support options available to students, click here for more information on bursaries. Scholarships of £1000 are awarded to any EU/international applicants that upon attending a portfolio interview, or submitting a portfolio, present outstanding portfolios of work.
