Undercurrent was conceived by Darrell Chandler, a graduate of Central Saint Martins College of Art & Design. Originally launched in 1998 the label sold internationally through a number of independent stores which include the Vexed Generation installation in London, Naked in Los Angeles and Isetan and Lift Co. in Tokyo, Japan.

In relaunching Undercurrent the brand has taken on a new subversive direction with sustainability being a key consideration. The design process is deliberated with key philosophy centred around creation of a product with greater ecological integrity.

Beyond inspiration and the design process consideration is given to fabric choices, product details and embellishments. Fabrics are organic (GOTS Certified) or made from recycled materials (reclaimed plastic bottles) in keeping with the design philosophy of the brand. With an enduring sustainable approach the product is also manufactured in England hence reducing its carbon footprint.

Undercurrent is a designer streetwear label that issues limited edition pieces in deliberation of the key seasons. The Undercurrent product is made in consideration of longevity and aims to transcend the disposable seasonal fashion statement. Inspiration follows a personal story and the brand stands firmly by its strong determination to create a sustainable product that is unique in style and definition.
