Shuming Gu

Shuming Gu is a fashion designer graduated from Pratt Institute who explores the complex relationships between people and everyday objects in her work. Her current collection delves into the intimate personal relationships reflected in household objects, as well as the relationships that exist within communities and are manifested in public facilities.
Through her work, Shuming seeks to reveal the hidden bonds that connect people to each other and the world around them. She is inspired by the small details of everyday life, from the way umbrellas gather in a bucket to the way paired slippers are arranged in a hallway. These objects serve as symbols of human connection, and by exploring them, Shuming hopes to deepen our understanding of what it means to be part of a community.
