Looking into the various aspects of the culture I have been bought up in ,Looking at the vibrancy of the festivals and bringing them to a contemporary collection of knitwear and woven pieces.
My aspirations are to showcase these aspects of my religion into a new and innovative knitwear collection, which will have been inspired by my own knowledge but also further research and investigation into Hinduism, through personal experiences, photographs of religious occasions, i.e. the festival of ‘Holi’ (the festival of colours).
The collection is a modern and contemporary take on this culture and religion and enhanced my abilities to create new forms and textures that replicate this notion of Hinduism. As embellishment is a key factor in my culture I investigated a variety of processes that would take knitting onto a whole new level. Usually this type of surface decoration is fine and intricate, I intended to make it bold and colourful, in various textures. which i feel was successfully achieved,
