My inspiration for this project comes from Joseph Beuys' performance art piece, "How to Explain Pictures to a Dead Hare," in which Beuys treated a dead hare as an external organ. As someone born in the year of the rabbit, I had four pet rabbits, three of whom died. I was deeply affected by the performance art and wanted to create a collection that reflected my affection for rabbits and the sadness I felt at their deaths. During my research, I drew inspiration from artists like David Altmejd and Nick Cave, whose half-human, half-rabbit sculptures, and installations informed many of my designs. To emphasize the somber and melancholic atmosphere surrounding the death of rabbits, I incorporated dark fabrics. Through my designs, I aim to convey the complex emotions surrounding the loss of a beloved pet while also raising awareness of animal rights and the human-nature relationship.
