[transl.: The World is standing on the head (literally) / ~ The World is upside down.]
The basic thought and starting point for my bachelor collection was our ("our" meaning all humankind) wrong handling of the natural ressources. The priority lies upon economic goals, hardly ever upon our environment and the health of us and our planet. If „something is „standing on the head“ as it is an expression in German, it basically means that something is „„wrong, or „inverted“, like a perspective that is turned upside down and meant to be the other way around.
This allegory is coming alive throughout my collection and is really standing for the way we are living our lifes on earth. This is – in my own way of seeing it – the world being upside down. A call for less and decelerated consume, conscious and well-informed. And hopefully soon to be growing in close communion with nature, not against it. Throughout the collection special attention was given to organic materials, for example the bark of a tree and organic cotton. In addition I experimented with natural dyeing techniques such as coloring with onion peels.
The body painting was used as a central element drawing attention to the comparison with more traditional populations that paint there bodies and that have another relation to „posessions“ as we do in the western world.
