Nebluela is currently a playground of intangible memory from the suburbs of Silicon Valley. A foray of the dark and Neo-psychedelic climate of post-hippie, current tech infiltration, and a deep longing for maximalism.

Repairing and regenerating discarded materials has been consistent throughout her designs since 2019, when Nebluela started with knitwear, hand-sewn garments and smaller accessories. Attending antique & textile markets throughout the states, receiving garment donations from collectors, searching for parts at junk stores, working as a BJD doll pattern-maker and participating in collaborative sculptures have all been essential education to her making and collecting process.

Blackburn's graduate collection : 'container' is a presentation of soft sculpture and durable accessories. expanding on her interests in obsolete military gear, collecting antiquities, and scavenging for materials...container is a regenerative approach to creating an unidentifiable sense of newness for its users. Emphasizing the celestial and durable qualities of nylon, ripstop and hand-dyed plastics. An endless application of interchangeable, adjustable and expandable possibilities allow the user to modify size and length to their needs. Creating a range of playful portals that will steal your time and you will need to focus.

Container

'Container' is blackburn's graduate collection of six soft sculptures, doubled as wearable bags. Each container expanding on her interest in obsolete military gear, orthopedics and body armor. Focusing on their shifts from tactical to decorative objects, whilst contemplating 'aesthetic function'. Pulling from the aesthetics of weather-resistant flight suits and distressed street finds, the combination of synthetics and recycled materials attempt to create an unidentifiable sense of newness for the user.

Leftover & stained materials, re-purposed zippers, hardware-store elastics, etc... are regenerated through simple hand-dyeing processes to imitate the diluted tones of antique military textiles. Then paired with lustrous synthetics, creating weather-dynamic compositions, and making each item one of a kind.

Each container emphasizes the celestial and durable qualities of nylon, ripstop and hand-dyed plastics.
