I was born in Messina in 1993. Since childhood I was attracted by fashion. I attended the Classic High School “E. Trimarchi” in Santa Teresa di Riva, because I always thought that a complete knowledge was important to better understand art. After I got my High School diploma in 2012, I decided that it was the right time to follow my dream and I started a quadrennial course in Fashion design at the "Accademia Euromediterranea" of Catania. I took part in the “Color Block” project, funded by YKK with the realization of an outfit, that I exhibited at the “Madeinmedi” runway show in 2015 at the Palazzo Biscari of Catania. At the “Milano moda graduate” 2016 I participated at the “UNIC contest”, sponsored by Linea Pelle, with the creation of a turban and I presented “Ubuntu”, my first collection, that I also presented at the “Madeinmedi” 2016 in Catania.
In my last experience I worked as fashion model maker in Valentino to Valdagno (VI).

UBUNTU

The collection is inspired by an African philosophy based on the idea of sharing and on the importance of humanity. Ubuntu is the essence of what it means to be human and the awareness of being part of something bigger than us: “I am because we are”. According to Ubuntu, a common bond exists between us and it is through our interaction with our fellow human beings that we discover our own human qualities. The quality of Ubuntu gives people resilience, enabling them to survive and emerge still human despite all efforts to dehumanize them. Basically, you can’t be human by yourself. I chose to represent this theme through the use of two natural materials: cotton and wool. I used the cotton to do the most basic items, while the wool was used to create the entirely hand-woven fabrics. This autumn/winter collection is addressed to 25-35 years old women. The predominant colours are orange, purple, blue, yellow and burgundy. They evoke the African landscapes and soul. The handmade wool twines underline the strong power of sharing in Africa; as all people help each other, in the same way woollen yarn stay together in a big hug.
