The collection is inspired by an African philosophy based on the idea of sharing and on the importance of humanity. Ubuntu is the essence of what it means to be human and the awareness of being part of something bigger than us: “I am because we are”. According to Ubuntu, a common bond exists between us and it is through our interaction with our fellow human beings that we discover our own human qualities. The quality of Ubuntu gives people resilience, enabling them to survive and emerge still human despite all efforts to dehumanize them. Basically, you can’t be human by yourself.
