Federica Cavenati has always been interested and surrounded by different cultures. After leaving Italy at the age of thirteen Federica spent her teenage years growing up in Vienna where she studied at Vienna International School, at the age of eighteen she then moved to Bournemouth where she spent a year working on her foundation course at the “Arts University Bournemouth” focusing mainly on fashion design.

Following her foundation Federica started her BA at Marangoni, spending the time mastering the art of pattern cutting and design that she has now gathered and executed in her final collection.

Latest Collection

FRAGILE

The research for her Spring Summer 2016 collection started by looking at the economic crisis in Greece. After visiting the newly refurbished Acropolis Museum in Athens, It was classic Greek statues placed on modern and rectangular plinths that caught Federica’s eye. This interesting contrast between geometric and soft shapes triggered her inspiration.

It all developed by looking at the balance between the old and the new and its beautiful outcome.
The aim of the project was to explore the versatility of the Greek statue.

Luxe casual-wear comes in linear shapes and silhouettes that leave the space for the eccentric fabric manipulation to take place. All the circular outlines are taken from the classic Greek busts. These are the shapes that keep appearing through out the collection.
Federica’s aim this season was to keep shapes and silhouettes simple but structured to contrast her intricate and show-stopping fabric manipulations where she molded luxurious fabrics around Greek busts.
