Born in communist, gray Romania, designer Laura Tanasa's dream has always been dressing the world in colors. In her early childhood years, she watched her grandmother, a renowned seamstress in her native town, chase away the conformity of the communist attire and add originality and craftmanship to the beautiful outfits that dressed the ladies of the town. Laura started to play with dolls and dress up games on paper (long before the internet era), and vowed to dedicate herself to creating interesting, strong pieces that would bring joy to the women who wear them. As it sometimes happens in life, her road to fulfilling her dream was quite sinuous and long, but now, after 10 years in fashion retail, Laura finally set out to make the first steps to creating her own fashion label. Drawing inspiration from the animal world, another of her great loves, Whiskers & Tales is a young brand for the young-at-hearts of all ages. The Whiskers & Tales woman is a modern woman with a strong personal style, who can wear with just the same ease an architectural piece or a dreamy, romantic dress, who is not afraid of making a statement through bold cuts, colors or mixes of materials, who values quality and has a keen eye for detail, and who, of course, loves animals.
