Verena Michels studied Fashion Design at the Gerrit Rietveld Academie in Amsterdam and interdisciplinary Fashion and Product Design at University of Arts in Berlin. She worked in the fashion industry for several years (e.g. BLESS berlin), teaches fashion with a digital and sustainable focus and founded her own studio in 2019. Weather Underground detoxes fashion supply chains and works with local producers and innovators in the packaging and manufacturing sector. All products and materials are currently designed, sourced and produced in Germany.

Weather Underground makes contemporary, 100% biodegradable rainwear based on plant based plastics. The first edition of CAPEBAG comes in a 2-tone signature look and in monochrome White or Black.

Oversized elegance with a flat tube collar that serves as a hood. This part has handles and folds back into itself to be carried as a plastic bag- without plastics! The motivation behind this product: make a little day-to-day luxury accessible. Produce locally and ethically, instead of max. profit margins.

The material is certified OK Compost! according to EN13432 and Ok Compost! in SOIL. CAPEBAG IS Repairable with compostable, organic stickers.
