Born out of curiosity and research regarding the textile industry and the repercussions of the fast fashion industry, there was a need to reboot and re-start. This information came through various industry experiences and how there was a crisis in hand, which needed to be tackled. Be it gender equality, safe working spaces, collective collaborations or responsible consumption and production. WeAreLabeless' was born, as a conscious hub for all practices related to ethical and sustainable fashion, with an aim to move away from the fast paced manufacturing and consumption. Working towards creating fashion beyond vanity and connecting people whilst creating products. 'WeAreLabeless' works towards connecting artisans and craftsmen from the subcontinent of India and trying to make its supply chain more inclusive and create products with value These products consisted of handloom clothing, accessories, and shoes.

Presently, ’WeAreLabeless' is a conscious fashion hub working on the Sustainable Development
Goals 2030. Primarily with SDG 5, Gender Equality & SDG 12, Responsible Consumption &
Production. We work closely with the craftsmen from all across the country with a women centric team in Kashmir consisting of household of seven sisters in the small village of Budgam, who works on our embroideries and a team down south in Tamil Nadu working on our footwear in the universal township of Auroville.

The brand focuses on the policy of zero waste production, where all the waste that is generated
while production, smaller bits of fabrics are utilised to make accessories like earrings, key-chains, ties, belts and patched pieces of clothing. Scraps that are too small to be used, go into the earrings. Therefore, nothing is really wasted.

WeAreLabeless, stands for Educate, Collaborate and Create, where in we focus on educating people regarding how to utilise their old/ worn out clothes, bits and pieces of fabrics through workshops. We only produce one piece of each design and we only manufacture more when we receive an order. This ensures that we do not overproduce which keeps our carbon footprint as low as possible. The collections are trans-seasonal, eliminating the pressure to follow trends that the fashion industry imposes. We hold upcycling, repair and mending workshop very frequently. Upcycling workshops not only seek to encourage the reuse of the local excess materials, but also invites to embrace the development of the smaller businesses. By working towards being a conscious hub, we are collaborating with like-minded people with the same ethics and values. We get to collaborate with individuals and organisations in our short or long term projects. Through collective working we aim to reach as many areas and people as possible.

‘Meeras,’ being our first collection, revolves around the journey of age old traditions and techniques that we grew up with, by bringing together crafts from two different states. One being Kashmir, and the other being Bihar, while ‘Rahgir,’ was a crowd funded collection made by upcycling vintage heirloom saris that were donated from all parts of the country. Ensuring the new cycle of creation is not dependent on virgin raw materials instead it repaired and reused by adding value to the existing materials.

We work closely with our weaver’s society for our handloom fabrics, which are handloom marked accredited by the Ministry of Textiles. Making sure all our fabrics are hand-woven & environment friendly. Made with love with no middlemen involved in the value chain while keeping in mind that due credits are given to our handloom, We aim to create more valuable products with a transparent supply chain, giving our heroes behind the scenes due credit. All our pieces are named after these unsung heroes. Be it the Nighat Top, named after our embroider from Kashmir or the Rani Didi Earrings made by our in-house superwoman.

Founded in May 2019, by Mehak Tariq Beigh and Pallavi Yadav, who graduated from Pearl Academy, started the brand as an individual realisation and then a collective journey. As the word itself suggests the idea behind WeAreLabeless was not to glorify an individual but to give equal due credits to each individual in the value chain. As we like to call it a creative osmosis, where each individual learns from the other and create products. The goal was never to just design clothes, but to build a creative space where like-minded people came on-board to make a difference. We drew inspirations from the age old techniques, crafts & people all across the country.

We truly believe in the saying, “Waste is not waste until you waste it.”

With all these thoughts together, we run a small studio in New Delhi where we function as a
conscious hub. Educating, Creating & Collaborating. We're expanding our team and getting our
production more women-centric day by day.
“We Are Beyond Boundaries. WeAreLabeless”.
