My name is yuedi zhang. i'm currently in the knitwear master of institut français de la mode. graduating from parsons, new york in 2021, i was once an editor for i-d china. the experience at i-d and the continuous exploration of my self-identity helped me to develop my own aesthetic philosophy as a designer. my passion in knitwear has guided me to the program i'm in now. In the future, i hope to establish my own brand focusing on knitwear. fashion, as a visual language incorporating craftmanship, is the medium for me to communicate with people who share a similar aesthetic and spiritual value.

Latest Collection

coiled coil

This collection is inspired by two personal items: a Chinese hairpin and a Madagascar skeletal quartz. These objects represent an important part of my childhood memory and the exploration of self-identity. The research was expanded into the complicated intimacy I experienced in the past within my family, as well as the calm yet breath-grasping tension found in myself when confronting the chaos. Taking inspiration from the twisted coil shape of the hairpin and the beautiful stone sculptures by artist José Manuel Castro López, these two objects start to intertwine with each other and provide alchemical forces to form the final look.
