The name, Ursa Major, stems from the title of the sailboat that designer, Kate Jones, lived on in the Caribbean as a child. Determined to carry on the name, and traveling spirit, the line was launched in January 2009. The aim is to produce livable pieces, contemporary but at once timeless. Detail, material, and craftsmanship are king in Kate's work and she produces all of the pieces herself in her San Francisco studio.
