Nadya Kusumo is a Melbourne-based fashion practitioner from Jakarta, Indonesia. Her fashion practice, TOILÉ STUDIOS, focus on elevating the existing women’s wardrobe with familiar yet unique renditions of classic archetypes. Nadya’s work has been previously featured in Melbourne Fashion Week’s Student Graduate Runway & ‘Urban Flaneur’, an exhibition by RMIT in collaboration with Melbourne Fashion Week and more recently has been nominated as a finalist in I-D International Emerging Designers Award. A string of internship in Melbourne-based labels such as KALAURIE and STRATEAS CARLUCCI affirmed her interest in producing a collection that epitomizes a balance between the commercial, creative, and sustainable side of fashion.

925

'925' is inspired by the movie Nine to Five (1980). It introduces the ‘925’ capsule collection for the modern women, who are both passive and active passively working during the day to make ends meet, but is conscious of an active lifestyle outside of work. Inspired by the 1980s feminist movement that solidified women’s place in the workforce, the idea is translated to the collection by the hybridization of traditional office and sporting archetypes. With sustainability in mind, the materials used for the collection are 70% from secondhand garment and remnants fabric while the other 30% will be new printed fabrics.
