The Bizarre and the Beautiful

This 22 year old fashion designer was born in Besançon, a town situated in the north-eastern part of France. Fascinated by the arts since the earliest age, fashion has soon become for Timothé Grand-Chavin the obvious track to follow on a professionnal level. Considering fashion design as a unique way to express himself, Timothé loves to spot beauty in what seems first grotesque or even bizarre. In fact, disturbing, could be the word placed at the origin of his inspiration sources.

His dramatic or melancholic aesthetics encompass the entire look, including the conception of hair and make up styles. Through this, he aims to sculpt the body to make way for emotions.

Some say that fashion is not about looking back but about looking forward. Intrigued by history, digging deep for inspirations coming from the past, Timothé Grand-Chavin uses traditional techniques and finishings to twist them into a possible allure for today.

Beauty is relative in his borderline world. Putting some darker or uncomfortable aspects of human behaviour into the spotlight, Timothé Grand-Chavin claims that fashion can become an art, when it raises the pieces worn by women to a somehow disturbing textile message conveyed through elegant silhouettes.

A graduate in june 2013 of the Atelier Chardon Savard, Timothé Grand-Chavin’s collection will be presented, thanks to Fidé Fashion Week as part of this Paris-based fashion design school’s runway show in Singapore in October.
