THIDARAT KAHA

The foundation of the collection was to disclose an air of fantasy horror and dark romanticism within a metamorphosis state. I wanted to maintain a sophisticated, sexy and modern aesthetic but also introduce dreamlike imagery. Inspired by works from photographers such as Arthur Tress, Nobuyoshi Araki, Dian Arbus, and artist, Egon Schiele, I wanted to explore the ways in which I could integrate the wear ability of a garment but still expose an anomalous quality within the pieces. My final goal for the collection was to let people interpret their own ideas and meanings behind it, opening a part of their psyches they may or may not want to reveal. It’s like I gave them characters within each of my looks, which they can write their own story about. The collection is a coalition of classic cuts, versatility, with experimental pieces. Like the two sides of the inspiration, I also want the clothes to reflect a sense of duality. By using a diverse range of materials and textures, with within an underscore of a tailored and conventional constructed collection, the garments are both contemporary and each piece also feels intimately unique.
