Salma graduated with a Bachelor's degree in Graphic Design, as well as a Film Minor from the American University in Cairo. During her college years, she took two internships one at Lead Marketing Solution in June 2015 and one in Wood & Design in August 2016.

Right after graduating, in January 2017, Salma founded TAQAT Jewellery in May 2017. Starting out as a college graduation project, Salma took various crystal healing and gemology courses with Egypt's most renowned masters, as well as an advanced silversmith workshop in Bali. Having been passionate about jewellery making and precious stones her whole life, pursuing this career was her dream. Taqat Jewellery has built a good reputation with customers and has been supported by Egypt and the regions' most prominent celebrities, stylists and magazines.

Le Trésore Berbère

'Le Trésor Berbère' is a timeless collection inspired by Tuareg and Berber art, jewellery and symbols. Pieces are handcrafted in 925 Sterling Silver, 18kt Gold, with genuine leather inlays and a selection of semi-precious stones.

Pieces came into being from transforming berber symbols into unique geometric jewellery, using various classic artisanal techniques such as: silver inlays in Ebony wood, stone hand-carving & mixing silver and gold to create multi-metal based pieces. Taqat's signature craftsmanship along with leather & semi-precious stone inlays are also used in this collection with a fine selection of new stones: Labradorite, Tourmaline, Tumbled Rubies, Kyanite, Pyrite, Lapis Lazuli, Malachites & Red Jaspers.
