Agi Kuczyńska is an architect and designer from Warsaw, after studying and working for many years in Sweden and Italy, she came back to her hometown. In 2013 with her friend Kasia Orłowska she founded a jewelry brand TAKK. She also runs an architecture practice working mostly with interior design.
Simplicity and clarity in design are the most desirable and at the same time the most difficult things to achieve. As we believe in their unquestionable value and want to integrate them in our every day life, we have decided to set up our own jewelry line. It responds to our need to have beautiful, meaningful and unostentatious pieces that add to and manifest our minimalist approach to style. The concept lies somewhere in between nature and engineering understood as employing physical forces for human goals. We observe the material world and try to abstract the essence of it in the form of necklaces, rings and earrings. Our aim is to reduce anything that is a surplus and stay with the clear, graphic and evocative lines. The appeal of the pieces comes from the ascetic poetry of the form and careful reflection in the process design.

Aphelium

Aphelium, the name of our new collection derives from astronomy, it’s the point in the orbit of a planet or a comet at which it is farthest from the Sun.
The latest collection of TAKK jewelry continues to be in uenced, by science, it is the second collection inspired by astronomy created by Agi Kuczyńska.
The leitmotif of all TAKK projects is their conceptual reference to natural phenomena. The previous collec- tions were inspired by the Earth and its physical properties. The latest collection looks up at the stars. The choice of material is not accidental – silver was one of the metals formed during the explosion of stars - as- trophysicists have discovered that this mineral also appeared during the explosion of a Supernova. Therefore the whole collection is handmade in silver.
Aphelium is light in its form and attracts attention with its large, circular and mobile elements. The collec- tion includes a necklace and two types of earrings.
As with the previous (three) collections the brand decided to continue their cooperation with Warsaw based photographer Jacek Kolodziejski. For this lookbook he is among the winners of one of the most prestigious photography competitions in the world, the PDN Photo Annual. For the Aphelium photo shoot, inspired by galaxies and space, the model appeared as a dark canvas – a cosmic backdrop for the light/delicate, silver jewelry. Jacek usually uses his models as a background for something more, rarely leaving the model without an extra intervention, he always tries to look for a deeper level of characterization, leaning towards surrealism.
