We are Gillie and Sarah Casey, the founders of Squirrel Versus Magpie, Ireland’s newest eco-luxury womenswear brand.
I, Gillie studied Fashion Design and Sarah studied Printed Textiles in NCAD, Dublin. When we graduated it seemed like a natural progression that we would combine our talents and start our own business. But the dream of collaborating faded into the background while we pursued our separate careers in Dublin and London.
Two years ago we finally found ourselves living in Dublin at the same time. The dream was resurrected and Squirrel Versus Magpie was born.
The Squirrel Versus Magpie name reflects the ethos and the challenges that face the brand. Like the squirrel, it is our goal to be prudent and responsible with the environmental and human resources we use, while also satisfying the inner magpie that wants excellent quality, beautiful, covet-able things.
From the initial research and design through to sourcing and manufacturing, we are constantly considering the environmental and ethical impact of our supply chain. It is our goal to offer our customers a range of clothing that is beautifully designed and executed to the highest standard at an accessible price, without compromising the ethical and sustainable goals of the brand or the customer.
