Sophie Kempner is designer behind the label SoSophie. Innovative yet classic, Kempner’s originality brings a modern edge to sportswear, fusing together practicality and chic. Her multi-faceted lines draw their aggressive attitude from the youth culture not of today, but tomorrow.

Kempner has always drawn deep inspiration from her surroundings. Her candid roots stem from growing up in the countryside in Buckinghamshire, northwest of London. “I vividly remember flinging on my rain boots and harvesting the goodness of the garden wearing homemade dresses by my mother. I can recall all the colors, textures, and smells of the pastoral surroundings, this is a part of me that will never be cast aside.

”When at De Montfort University in north England, Kempner’s graduate collection blended classic features of sportswear with materials that referenced the animalistic natural environment. The assortment included a silver leather sports jacket adorned with peacock feathers, a coat made of foil thermal blankets, pieces that used pig suede, and different types of silk jersey that gave a crisp sporty edge to the collection. Ultimately Kempner was selected to showcase her designs at the 2011 Graduate Fashion Week in London, an event recognized for discovering new raw talent.

“My true passion is vintage sportswear. I think it was one of the first times fashion morphed together with functionality to create a new distinctive persona,” says Kempner. “I want to craft a fight between form, function and stereotype to create a new vision, for a new generation, with a new voice.”So how do you define the style of fresh new youth? Sophie Kempner SO knows how. Give them something that they wear with passion, with identity and with fulfillment. Give them something for the gym, for the coffee shop, for the club, or everywhere real friends gather to revel life. Give them the opportunity to personify the spirit of carpe diem.
