SONJA MARUNIC

Sonja Marunic is a Belgrade based painter and fashion designer. She was born in Belgrade,Serbia in 1981. Sonja got her master degree as a painting major in 2008 at the Faculty of Fine Arts, University of Arts (Belgrade). ’’Nikita Denmark’’ is Sonja’s first collection and represents the meeting point of her artistic background and her sense for fashion. She was guided by the idea of colluding two different segments of visual expression, making her art wearable. Her interest is in solid construction, clear cuts, and juxtaposing the qualities of the sensual and delicate fabrics versus firm and constructive ones. Every choice of textile is carefully made. Giving the great importance to the craftsmanship and uniqueness of each piece, she is treating every segment of her clothing as a work of art. Her clothes are made for contemporary women who are not afraid of being different and noticed, women who are at the same time elegant and avantgarde, appreciating the creative process behind the product.
