Sofia hermens fernandez

Sofia Hermens Fernandez (she/her), born 2000 in Hamburg, Germany, with Spanish and Dutch roots, is currently enrolled in the MA program of the Fashion department at the Royal Academy of Fine Arts in Antwerp, Belgium. Her current work centers around the semiotics and construction of images of Western girlhood and how they can be subverted through handcraft. With her research and designs she gives her own take on a subversive form of girlhood in fashion and hopes to open girlhood as a creative attitude for more identities to embrace.
