There were dresses and blouses on her floor, scarves scattered across her bed, and even her go-to jeans didn’t feel quite right. The problem was none of these clothes made her feel beautiful, and today she needed to feel beautiful. She needed that one piece of clothing that she could slip into and without another wasted thought would bring out the best in herself. S o f i a is created with this story in mind.

The S o f i a woman believes in first impressions, and that the way we dress is a reflection of who we are. She is modern and timeless. Each piece is locally made using quality fabrics and natural fibers. Special attention is given to construction, fit, and detail; resulting in beautifully designed, easy-to-wear garments. The pieces are vibrant, feminine, and do not overshadow the woman wearing them. S o f i a can take you from day to night, all the while feeling fresh, effortless and sophisticated.

Creative Director Sofia Méndez Schenone was born and raised in Chile.After studying theatre in Santiago, her wanderlust brought her to Victoria, British Columbia to study Fine Arts and Fashion Design. Soon after graduation, she relocated to Vancouver. Guided by her love for the arts, architecture and nature – pulling inspiration from the texture and colour found in life’s everyday, uncomplicated moments, she launched S o f i a in the Fall of 2010. Her second collection, Spring 2011, earned her the title of Best Up and Coming Designer in Western Canada's Generation Next Competition. Sofia has shown at Vancouver ECO Fashion Week and at Vancouver Fashion Week. Her work has been featured in Vogue UK, Glamour UK, Fashion Magazine, Flare Magazine and Lucy Magazine amongst others.
