The concept behind my collection is to 'Reform' the way people think about uniforms which are often regarded as 'boring' and a breach of our freedom of expression and turning them into contemporary garments that are far from conventional. I've reconstructed old unwanted school uniforms and turned them into a contemporary womenswear collection. I upcycled blazers, shirts, skirts, jumpers and dresses by taking them apart and used a patchworking techniques to create new garments out of them. The garments are practical and multifunctional that can be worn in different ways and personalised by the wearer leading to a longer product life. The detachable pockets, frills and details that could be added or removed depending on the customers preference has the potential to increase the value and longevity of the garments. These elements like pockets could be made in different colours and work amongst all the garments so people could create multiple different looks from just one piece.
