Signe Munch Grønlund

Signe Munch Grønlund graduated from Royal Academy of Art, The Hague in 2022. With her graduation collection Reality of a Fool, she was selected as a finalist for the Lichting 2022 in The Netherlands and presented her collection as a part of Amsterdam Fashion Week.

Dressing up and making costumes out of trash bags, scarves, pillow cases and doing performances was a ritual and a form of expression, when she was growing up. Her work derives from a fascination of dressing up, fooling around and showing the poetry of this process. A process, in which the act of dressing up is taken very seriously one moment, and the next you would crack up laughing. A time before perceptions of symbol and value have frozen solid, where nothing is too silly and nothing is too serious. A space, where the form of expression is limited to your very surroundings and the beauty you see in it.

Since graduating she has been working in the intersection of fashion, photography and art. Through a continuous curiosity of the relation between laughter, dressing up, ordinary objects and limitation, she explores the concept of fashion.

Her vision is to create narratives that challenge the limits of our perceptions of fashion.
