My collection celebrates life experience as hope and beauty. Despite any down moments, even when one feels like drowning, there is always a slightest hope and beauty through that opportunity. It sends a message that welcomes anyone who shares this hope and recognizes this magnificence, because I believes that all horrible things including death can be unwrapped with light, grace and hope.

I appreciates all kinds of handwork and believes those give a personality to each garment. Each piece of my productions has its own story and needed to be handled with love and care.

Ai SHU TING WANG 2012 s/s

This Collectiont is inspired by a Japanese movie “ Memories of Matusko” and Marc Chagall’s work.

The movie touched me deeply. I really like the dialogue in the film that ‘every girl who hasn’t had a dream of being Snow White or Cinderella, but somehow, the little duck didn’t turn up to be a swan, just a ugly crow. Life is the cruelest fairy tale.’
In the film, Matusko had a really miserable life. But not a scene in the movie looks dark and desperate. The color is amazingly warm and bright.
In this collection, I adopt the idea from Chagall’s sketches with twisted forms of objects, to work those forms on a stand to change some princess looking lolita dresses into new silhouettes. The extend of these details and shapes were led by some of my favorite scenes from the movie.

The concept for this collection is broken and twisted fairy tale which may not be a merry subject to people. But I want to do it in a bright and beautiful way to express that even there is no happy ending in the tale, it still can be a wonderful story. Dream and reality are not opposite subject.
