Skinned

“Skinned” investigates the relationship between body and material.
With dress form as a source of inspiration, the result is a series of work that includes garment, accessories and PVC.
The word – skin – is the focus throughout the process of this production.
Hence, I chose PVC as the main material. I start testing different type of plastic, like pvc. I dyeing them first, simulation print,heat pressing and foiling to create this concept of human skin. Especially, in the heat pressing process, differentthickness of plastic, they need to test in different time and tempurture, the most safe time and temputure is 180 degree for5 seconds.
Coffee was also used as a dyeing agent to explore the various changes and deformities in texture and appearance thatoccur to the material.
I also experimented on bioplastics to create accessories. The main ingredients used to create bioplastic were gelatineand glycerine. Gelatine and glycerine were boiled in a pot and cooled, before subsequently poured onto a cling wrap.After the concoction dries and harden, smaller pieces are then torn and placed on top of the body of bioplastic to createan organic texture.
