Senay Sahin

After obtaining her degree in Philosophy and Psychology from METU, Şenay Şahin worked for multinational consumer product testing, certification, verification and audit companies. During her career as a marketing executive, she focused on marketing strategy and communication. In 2004, she started working with wax on a whim, making minimalistic sculptures, getting in touch with her creative side. In 2007, she attended a jewellery atelier by celebrated Turkish artisan Altay Özkaya and jewellery sketch courses at Pera School of Fine Arts. Thus discovering her true vocation, Şenay Şahin launched her first collection of artisanal jewellery in 2009. The collection was dominated by metallic designs and carried an underlying theme of purity and strength. It was an immediate local hit, which brought on Şenay Şahin's next move: she launched Artefact, her showroom and atelier, in 2011. She continues to design and produce her artisanal jewellery collections in Beyoğlu, İstanbul.
