In case you don't know, some of the items that we consume, are made in cities such as Bangladesh, Turkey, etc where employees get paid a lot less than they should receive, and they work under abusive conditions.
Saudade Atelier promotes and encourages clothing in Spain through the diffusion and work of qualified professionals.

Small production:
The small production is the main philosophy of our flagship. Sometimes we develop the garment at the time after your purchase. This way we save on balances, overproduction or seasonal remains, therefore, if a garment does not function as expected, that tissue could become another piece for the upcoming season. This is reflected on the price. In conclusion: a lower risk gets a lower final cost.

Say no to the seasons:
Saudade Atelier believes in a different season system that do not necessarily fits the climate of each season (summer, spring, autumn, winter). We create more timeless and permanent products that can stay in your wardrobe much longer!

SAUDADE CHINESO campaign

AN EXPERIMENT BETWEEN BRANDS:

Saudade Atelier is a fashion brand based in Barcelona. Established in 2013 by Marcelo Rodriguez, its pieces have been spotted in music videos for artists such as Tame Impala, The Vaccines or Rosalía. Amongst the aesthetical foundations of the brand, we find classic shapes with an edgy twist and a special passion for striped patterns.

Pattern Chineso ́s creations are the result of hand produced collections that aim to simulate the thorough and hard-work methods of systematic reproduction of the Asian industry. This art collective introduces us to a project that focuses on the beauty of fake and decodes the authen- ticity of what lies behind counterfeit, as a metaphor of contemporary consumption.

For this collaboration, the Spanish and chinese designers worked toge- ther to create a collection on which both brands put together their own narratives and codes, but also to find common solutions combining their resources in order to create artistic but functional pieces.

With a main focus on concepts such as re-designing traditional shapes, recycling, zero waste or no-gender fashion, they create an atmosphere where the new and the old blend on a personal vision towards the fashion world.

Traditional fabrics as oilcloth and sattler awning are used to construct waterproof jackets and ultra resistant bags. The limited edition t-shirts (numbered) mix a signature Saudade Atelier design as a canvas with hand sprayed graphics by Pattern Chineso. The design and experimentation process lasted almost 2 years.

The collection was ready to be displayed on one of the biggest mul- ti-brand stores in Barcelona but, due to this exceptional crisis we are all struggling with, the artists decided to launch it virtually.
