Sara Valente

After developing a passion for accessories while studying Fashion and Costume Design at Rome’s La Sapienza University and completing Fashion and Accessory Design courses at the Accademia di Costume e di Moda, Sara Valente began her creative journey towards her own product identity. In July 2013, she launched her line of bags, culminating in the presentation of the SS2014 collection.
With her passion for artisanal, handcrafted objects and a tireless search for premium materials, Sara Valente continues in the fine tradition of Made in Italy.
The designer’s collections blend pure, geometric shapes with oriental influences, creating innovative and multifunctional designs as pleasing to the eye as they are practical. With the ability to change shape and size to suit the occasion, Sara Valente’s bags – particularly the iconic Kimono from the autumn/winter 2014/15 collection – continuously shift between fashion accessory and design object.
The bas-relief and plissé detailing contribute to a sense of elegance and sensuality, blending into the motion of the supple, impregnated leather, with angles and curves completing the design. The ample volumes and versatility of the accessory adapt to the desires of the elegant and independent woman, allowing her to combine refinement and practicality. The clean lines, rigor and minimalism of oriental design meld with the Italian artisanal tradition to create ‘Zen’ objects that aspire to ‘dress’ the wearer, allowing her to discard the idea of a bag as nothing more than a ‘container’.
