Salita Nanda launched her eponymous label in 2014 which is her ode to the modern Indian woman.

Born and brought up in London but having lived in India, the brand is a reflection of the designer’s diverse background. It draws subtly from her heritage and reinterprets this vibrant aesthetic in a modern, cosmopolitan way.

The label is infused with a feminine, playful and effortless elegance. The design philosophy essentially illustrates experimentation and expression in the form of art. The garments are designed for a woman who confidently embraces vivid prints and colour palettes while also appreciating the value of artisanal craft, with each piece being a style statement in its own right.

Demoiselles Summer/Resort'16

‘Demoiselles’

With this collection the label aims to create a unique ready-to-wear hybrid collection combining digital printing and a series of 3D-printed fabrics that are created using selective laser sintering (SLS). The essence of Salita Nanda is to express the character and emotions of a woman. The silhouettes, digital prints and look have been inspired by her interpretation of Picasso’s ‘Les Demoiselles D’Avignon’. The women depicted in the prints each possess qualities that attribute to a strong empowered woman comfortable in her own form.. The African undertones in the painting translate into prints and symbols like love, beauty, strength, endurance and freedom which represent the virtues of the empowered women in the prints.
