Carla Barral, CEO of Rígido Jewelry, is trained in fashion design and specialized in fashion marketing at Central Saint Martins.
Her journey took her to all spheres of the creative side of fashion: from freelance styling to art direction and accessory design and now in her own project, Rígido.
Carla’s career took a turn for the best when she went from designing for fast fashion brands to taking a much slower approach to fashion. Going back to work to her father’s atelier inspired her to focus on a much more sustainable approach to her creations, which manifested into what her career has turned into today. Rigido as a perfect way to consolidate all her personal and professional concerns.
The project is fundamentally based on a slow made culture, forgetting the idea of mass production to enhance the artisan work where the quality of the product prevails over
quantity.
Her own philosophy is ubiquitous within her work. Fashion is a matter of identity, an extension of who each person is. For Carla, it is important that her creations reflect exactly that, and that they can serve as a form of self-representation for those who carry them.
