The concept behind the collection aims to highlight the impact of Plastic pollution on natural processes.
Biodegradation is the process by which organic substances are broken down by enzymes produced by living organisms. This process can be thought of as decaying or rotting. Decay is an essential step in the reproductive process of fruiting plants - the decomposition feeds the seeds of the fruit to grow into a new plant.
We have captured 3 fruit slices in their process of decomposition and have preserved them in gold, thus mimicking the effect of plastic on the process of biodegradation.
Plastic pollution can alter habitats and natural processes, reducing ecosystems' ability to adapt to climate change.
The fabrics used for this collection are raffia, cotton poplin , chiffon and linen. Most of the items in the collection are completely biodegradable. The tags used are made from recycled paper. Biodegradable items are shipped in a paper bag instead of the standard one time use plastic packaging.
With is collection we are hoping to shed light on the issue in order to reduce Environmental degradation, we are also collaborating with Shagara to direct a part of the proceeds of this collection to plant a tree in our clients names.
The collection ‘Decay’ is aiming to keep our planet green one outfit at a time.
