RICHARD THORNN

Thorn is a fashion lyricist his work is born out of a troubled narrative, a real life story of his own producing, a poetic and sensitive artist who creates highly wearable fashion. Thorn born in the North was raised on the streets in the darker side of Liverpool, it was here he became fascinated with art and street culture leading him to study Fashion Design at the newly established University of Salford’s Fashion Design School at Salford’s he gained great accolades for his final collection ‘A boy who can’t be named for legal reasons’ shown at London’s Graduate Fashion Week and then selected as part of The One’s to Watch portfolio hosted by Italian Vogue in Milan. Thorn received a first class honours degree in fashion design from Salford’s University in 2010. Seeking for a greater platform for his designs Thorn undertook his Masters in Fashion at Kingston University in 2010, here Thorn has propelled his knowledge of fashion pioneering a style of study unique to him with detailed cutting and strong women’s silhouettes. A born networker he straddles education and industry by developing vital professional relationships which inform and steer his studies, Richard has interned for Olsen sisters label Elizabeth and James in New York, he has assisted his Course Director at Studio Nancy Tilbury with pivotal innovation projects such as ‘Fashion Phreaking’, worked in the London studio for Gareth Pugh on his latest work for Pitti Autumn Winter 2011 and assisted on the eagerly anticipated Void of Course look book shoot with uber stylist Anna Trevelyan. Richard has also developed links with Sebastien Peigne at Mugler, The Philips Design Probes Team and Ian Wallace’s Artisanal Studio in London. Having been absent of a traditional family whilst growing up Thorn’s latest fashion venture sees him create a ‘The Fashion Family Project’, here he explores six degrees of separation. Thorn creates a human web – a fashion facebook based around his ever-growing list of friends, collaborators and contacts helping shape and build his soon to be launched contemporary high fashion brand.
