The label Reto Crameri wants to offer an alternative to fashion consumers who also disagree with the exploitation of emerging countries and wish to take responsibility for their part in the consumer market and global environment. Our followers appreciate good quality and style, individuality and healthy innovations. Influenced by fair-trade ideas and the wish to promote traditional textile crafts, the new collection partly uses Moroccan handcrafted textiles and is manufactured in collaboration with a factory in Marrakesh that employs handicapped women.

I KISSED YOU BECAUSE I LOVED YOU, FOR A MINUTE...

A minute could however also be an eternity. But how can this minute be perceived and sustained as permanent?
In 1919, the artist Marcel Duchamp instructed his sister, Dadaist painter Suzanne Duchamp-Crotti, by letter, to hang a geometry textbook from her apartment’s balcony in Paris and expose the pages to the elements of time and weather. This project resulted in his 1919 readymade art piece Unhappy Readyma-de, and also in a painting by Suzannei in 1920. More importantly it showed the inevitable action of the forces of nature combined with the unpredictability of chance and the changes which time effects on any material.
Duchamp’s experiment is the inspirational source for my idea to use oxidation on silk for my Winter Collection 2016/17. The sheen of the silk is influenced by the rust and this process leads to a distortion of reality. This alienation is further supported by the Bauhaus-manufactured textiles based on designs by the Neue Wiener Werkstätte (Austrian design and crafts work-group) to enhance my playful approach to fashion.
