Rebecca Ellis Onyett was born and bred in the Kentish countryside of South East England, where she spent her childhood fascinated by the wildlife that grew just outside her doorstep. From a very young age Rebecca was exposed to the processes of life through birth, survival and death and was always captivated by british wildlife and the beautiful countryside. Now living in the cosmopolitan capital rebecca's jewellery captures and preserves the inquisitive nature of her childhood and turns these wonders into beautiful pieces of jewellery that can be worn and adorned forever, past down through generations and become a part of the self.

Rebecca is also a self-taught taxidermist, with her love for anatomy playing a great role in the production of her collections. Just like Victorian jewellery and taxidermy being a rarity today and only found in museums or quirky and strange shops off of brick lane and portobello road, rebecca romanticises that in 100 years from now her jewellery will become just as rare, wondrous and fascinating as these strange stuffed animals.

Rebecca also loves organic forms and natures ability to be both beautiful and fragile, strong and dangerous. A rose can be beautiful, yet its thorns make it lethal, this balance is something that she loves and becomes a great inspiration behind her work.

In the Ms Midas collection Rebecca’s love for poetry plays a huge part behind the pieces, where by she creates jewellery that mimics over the surface of the skin and becomes a part of the self. Using romantic themes depicted from a poem she studied at A-level english literature by where the poet Carol Ann Duffy portrays the story of king Midas through the eyes of his wife and states, “His kiss could turn my lips into a work of art”. Rebecca plays on this theme and believes that the jewellery from our lovers covers over us, becoming a part of us, protecting us and marking us with ownership and love.

Rebecca merely wants to create beautiful things that reflect her feelings for what jewellery should be; romantic, strong and empowering for the 21st century women.
