REKKAB was founded in 2012 in Melbourne, Australia. The fabrics, materials and trims we source are only premium. Our leathers are from italy, our wools and polyesters from japan and our cottons from australia. Rekkab is primarily a menswear label however many of our basics are designed to be unisex and are fitted to both men and women before production to ensure the most comprehensive fit. Specialising in limited run production with pieces carrying a tag indicating what number they are out of a specified limit world wide our pieces are exclusive by availability not just price. For example the tag on a basic White cotton T-Shirt may show “Piece 7 of 50, in White” however a cashmere coat may
only show “Piece 3 of 15”. Our motto is “Quality over Quantity” and as such all pieces are designed and manufactured in Australia. In addition, our design team has worked for some of Australia’s most prominent labels such as Claude Maus and
LIFEwithBIRD. We do not restrict our material Palette to merely fabric or leathers though. Our A/W 2014 range (due for release in September 2013 along with our website) incorporates 3d printing, concrete and kevlar.

Perspective and Perception

The collection focuses not just on the obvious ideas of linear perspective and perception, but also on how perceptions, perspective and their interreation to facts can shape our opinions on mental illnesses.

Small hints of mental assylum clothing were incorporated such as wrapping “strap down” collars, elongated straight jacket sleeves and lengths representative of hospital gowns and aprons.

Pieces such as the Male Cullote titled “Short and/or Skirt” and “Singlet and/or Dress” aim to blur the line between male and female and attempt to be evocative of opinions. The idea that a male may wear a baggy pair of shorts however not a skirt or a singlet but not a dress proposes one perspective, however how would the wearer react if they were told the shorts looked like a skirt or the tank like a dress? This kind of evocative design was attempted throughout and was the entire aim of the collection. To challenge preconcieved ideas and make us reconsider views once facts were truly understood.
