The Work Cycle are tarot card that represent this fall / winter collection of scarves. Transformation is a powerful force that happens every moment of every day, in our lives and in our environment. The magnetic pulls of energy and the stardust surrounding us is the catalyst for this collection look book. ‘ The Work Cycle’, a tarot reading that lighten our paths as we journey through transition and transformation. The textiles carry us through the reading as they are infused with magic and intent.
Two of the patterns, ‘Lucretia’ and ‘Underground’, are digitally printed with acid dyes. These were created with Rio’s original composting method and computer manipulation. ‘Waxing’, is created only during a waxing moon cycle in order to tap into the subtle magnetic energies. All other patterns are hand dyed with natural dyes, plants, and iron. The fabrics used consist of silk haboti, silk chiffon, organic cotton gauze, and a silk wool blend.
