Raquel Hladky

The SS20 collection titled “Asian Future” is inspired by the coexistence of cutting edge technology with millenarian culture in China and Japan. As well as 90´s japanese iconic magazine “Fruits” streetwear style.
Raquel Hladky´s takes direct inspiration of vintage graphics and pop culture iconic imaginery and reimagines iT, For this collection of prints collaborated with Berlin based swedish artist and friend Liina Nilson who shares similar interests, who created exclusive airbrush Asiatic and futuristic motives.
Raquel Hladky used motives from an antique 100 year old Chinese silk embroiderie belonging to her father, who bought it from the wife of a Czech soldier, then still belonging to the Austrian empire, who purchased the embroidery in South China´s province bordering with Siberia during the first world war. The piece motives symbolize Happiness. Raquel Hladky digitalized the embroideries and manipulated to them look as if they were seen throught an early 80s computer screen. Liinas motives and other digital artworks by Raquel Hladky are mixed to create fresh colorful prints with unconventional color combinations that can be worn by men and woman alike.
The prints are applied to the brand´s idyosincratic unisex popeline shirts, but also to mesh tops and silk tops and dresses with bias waterfall cuts that were popular in the 90´s. There is simple but well fitted hight waisted, girly pants, skirts and shorts made with cotton twill in a rare shade of Aubergine as well as Olive green linen.
The gender fluid oversized boxy unisex jacket is also made with Aubergine cotton twill, velcro fastenings and combines well with pastel colours as well as with solids making it a versatile piece.
Sustainably made in Portugal with ecological materials under European normatives.
