Sofia Karakousi was born in Athens, Greece. After receiving her first degree in fashion design she worked as a stylist for magazines and later on opened her atelier where she was making couture made to measure garments. Sofia graduated from the University of East London with a BA in Fashion Design. Her final collection was a hit and was showcased at the Graduate London Fashion Week 2007. After that Sofia worked in the ateliers of Alexander Mcqueen, Peter Pilloto, Roland Mouret and later on as an assistant accessory designer for monsoon and accessorize.

Sofia lived most of her adult life between London and Athens learning how to perfect her craft. About a year ago she finally felt ready to pursue her dream, so she moved to London and established the brand KARAKUSI.
