The collection “Wabi-Sabi” is a Japanese art of finding beauty in imperfection. Wabi means simplicity, freshness, quietness and Sabi means beauty or serenity that comes with age. However, my inspiration is moss which is a primitive plant. Being grown in unusual places, in uneven pattern, these primitive plants caught my attention because they are unwanted and valueless, however; they beautify the area where they grow. Also, they need no external efforts to grow. I consider moss being imperfect; however they are immensely beautiful. Therefore, my collection revolves around the same elements. Being inspired by 50’s silhouette, I have used clean, feminine silhouettes. Considering rough texture of moss, I have used bullion knots embroidery with velvet threads and 3D cut danna, beads embroidery in an uneven pattern. The collection is minimalist, simple, sophisticated, but shows the beauty behind imperfection.
