The collection refers to the infamous Chernobyl nuclear catastrophe, which took place in the 1986, near the Ukrainian city Pripyat. The acidental explosion of the nuclear power plant, left a huge damage on the nature around it and the citizen who lived there.
This collection is inspired by the dilapidated architecture and things people left behind. The web structure, beter known as ''Duga radar'', was presented as an inovative and recognizable object of the Soviet Union in that time. The theories that surround it are rather conspiratorial. The tightly crocheted clothing pieces refer to the web structure of Duga.
The relation between abandoned and almost collapsed architecture and the nature that has after 38 year since the accident, completely covered the holes in the architecture of Pripyat, is presented in the collection by choosing materials such as denim and neon yarns. The neon yarn is tightly crocheted, filling the holes in denim and connecting it together. Inspired by the propaganda signs left in the city, denim shirts and pants consist of grey and neon green prints, which are written in Ukrainian Cyrillic.
Another interesting components for the collection were toys that children left behind. Those toys are now filled with radioactive dust and are frequently moved by curious illegal visitors of Chernobyl, called the Stalkers. Although, dusty teddy bears compared with metal object, have only a small amount of radiation, are still harmful for touching. This collection also consists of two crocheted outfits, which imitate the teddy bear fur. In this case, the Stalkers dress up in dusty teddy bear skin and parade throughout the Exclusion Zone of Chernobyl.
