I have primarily been the product designer for tote+able, a company that caters to the retail gift industry on a wholesale level. I am the designer of record at the MoMA retail stores in NYC and Tokyo, the product is tote+able 'Flask and Shot Glass'. I also am responsible for the majority of the graphics used on tote+able's product.
I have been an illustrator/graphic designer since 1983. Made in USA. Paper&Fog is an ethical, eco-fashion, born and raised in northern california apparel line.
Inspired by Bob Dylan and Joan Baez performing at the Newport Folk Festival, courtesy of Martin Scorsese's 'No Direction Home'. Joan was wearing a simple shift and I wanted it. It has stuck in my mind forever. Traveling to Japan was/is my Love. I am deeply influenced by simplicity and my love of linen and denim and Japanese Kimonos. The drape of linen and the stiffness of denim, which then through time become worn and soft, inspired me and my designs. I also have deep ties to the artists' community in Sonoma County and feature their work on my clothing.
Paper&Fog is a brand new company, just putting its toe in the water. I am committed to making clothing that employ my community, that offers an alternative to fast fashion and is simple and timeless. I believe in minimalism, fewer items in one's closet, but making those items special so one will come back to them time after time.
In 2017 we are introducing lingerie, hand embroidered by a local artist. Our clothing will also introduce an appliquéd line, again a local artist's work.
Paper&Fog is ever evolving. I am, at this point, a one woman operation in terms of design, marketing, sales and inquiries. I employ Debra Sherman as my production sewer. The inherent philosophy of collaboration with other artists provides an atmosphere of creativity and joy that I have always longed for.

Paper&Fog, on my first trip to Sonoma County
my friend and I travelled through tulle fog. Little did I know I would make this beautiful place my home.
Paper is the beginning of a design, pencil, pen, charcoal, brushes and lots of erasures.
The little linen dress is my Paper&Fog.
