Born into a strong community in the heart of budapest, i was raised to see how a community can support each other and how clothes can be a valuable tool for connecting people. evolving into a designer, social interactions and social responsibility became one pillar of my work and sustainability and emotional attachment to clothes became the other pillar.
i studied fashion design at edinburgh college of art, national college of art and design in dublin before receiving my ba and ma degree certificates from moholy-nagy university of art and design in budapest. during my ma studies i solely focused on social impact and sustainability, collaborating with ngo-s and conducting personal research.
before establishing my own brand, i joined a sustainable community studio in budapest and held garment making workshops for the local community for five years, along with presentations, panel discussions and other interactive events to promote conscious consumer behavior through open discussion and engagement with the community.
my brand ourabura offers a new take on a closed loop system by inviting the customers to become part of the process. some designs are available for purchase while others can be custom made by incorporating an old piece of clothing from the customers own wardrobe. this way their unworn yet emotionally charged clothes get a second chance and their wardrobe becomes an example of the smallest circular model possible.
for each garment we use deadstock fabrics and for the interactive designs we fuse them with secondhand clothes.
we use hand dying processes to create unique and vibrant colors and we manufacture each garment individually in our studio in budapest.
