born and raised in Jorhat, Assam but originally from Nagaland, she belongs to the Ao community of Nagaland.
Started her ethical clothing label - Otsü Clothing Co during the pandemic 2020, which won the Grazia Young Fashion Award in the sustainable category in the year 2021.

‘Otsü’ in Ao dialect means ‘stories’, the company strives to allow each garment to have its own story to tell — all special in their distinctive ways. It's an ethical, seasonless clothing brand, where they handpicks one-of-a-kind vintage items and up-cycle them with Northeastern Textiles. Each collection has limited garments which is narrowed to one piece per design only.
Weaving serves as a means of expressing identity and heritage in Nagaland. Each tribe boasts its distinctive weaving patterns, motifs, and colors, often symbolic of its unique cultural narratives and social structure. The importance of weaving in Nagaland extends beyond the tangible fabric; it weaves together the threads of culture, identity, and economic resilience. As Nagaland continues to evolve, the art of weaving stands as a testament to the enduring spirit of its people and their commitment to preserving their unique cultural heritage.

Founder Asenla Jamir is inspired to take one step at a time to minimize Mass production, Environmental Wastage, Toxic Clothing, and greenwashing while promoting textiles from Northeast India. The aesthetics of the brand are very eccentric yet functional and relaxed at the same time. As most of the pieces are limited and handmade, it is ought to be taken well care of and the finishing differentiates from piece to piece keeping in mind the quality of the construction.
