That turbulent place where the currents of fate and faith encounter each other in ways complementary and contradictory is where OS draws creative energy for its fourth collection. Vol. 4 revolves around religious icons—tangible articles of belief whose forms are wrought from and fraught with the time-honored convictions that it is what cannot be perceived by the senses that is essential, and that a central intelligence, by turns benevolent and malevolent, orders the cosmos and gives purpose to existence.
Translated by artful hand into the accessories for which the brand has long been known, the sacred symbols lead us along the spoor of a compelling post-apocalyptic scenario: following a series of catastrophic struggles among different cults to gain superiority above the rest, the survivors come together under a single creed in order to renew a broken world.
Such a hopeful future is marked in Vol. 4 by several changes. The pieces have been scaled down in terms of size but up in terms of design with the introduction of new shapes, such as mask harnesses, and new textures, such as synthetic lizard skin and holographic leather. Metal also plays a more prominent role, as in the case of the signature animal bone reproductions of the brand. Further, by mid-season, expect backpacks, belt bags, and online exclusives.
All of these exciting innovations, of course, were made firmly in the spirit of the beloved OS aesthetic, and leave no doubt as to its continuing power to enchant and to ensnare.
