Akino is a Japanese fashion and textile designer, studied for her MA in fashion and clothing design at Aalto University (Helsinki, Finland) and a BA in textile design at Tama Art University (Tokyo, Japan).
AKINO IS ONE OF TEN FINALISTS IN THE INDUSTRY ACCLAIMED HYÈRES FASHION AND PHOTOGRAPHY FESTIVAL with her winter melancholy collection. THE FESTIVAL IS A PRESTIGIOUS OPPORTUNITY WITH CHANEL AS A MAJOR PARTNER AND PACO RABANNE'S CREATIVE DIRECTOR CHAIRING THE JURY. PREVIOUS WINNERS HAVE INCLUDED VIKTOR & ROLF, FELIPE OLIVEIRA BAPTISTA AND ANTHONY VACCARELLO.
Her works were featured in presentations during Helsinki fashion week and exhibition on the 21_21DESIGN SITE museum Tokyo, etc.
She returned to Japan in 2016 and worked as a knitwear designer for a few years. In 2019. She started a knitwear-focused label ONICA.
