NOORANA AHMAD

I am a specialist knitted textiles and fashion designer. I have completed a BA Honours degree in Fashion & Textile Design at Winchester School of Art, University of Southampton. Though I have studied knitted textiles, I also have a keen eye for trends forecasting, I have an awareness of blogs and social media platforms. I am confident in my skills in both practical techniques as well as digital processes. The work that I produce is colourful, embellished and bold. I am a keen fashion illustrator and enjoy mark making and expressing myself through detail. I love experimenting with different media and designing with different materials and I welcome opportunities to manipulate fabric. I have a strong eye for colour and love embroidery and innovating my fabrics and creating new surfaces and textures. I mainly use domestic knitting machines, as well as industrial Dubied machines. I can also hand sew and use industrial machines, I am skilled in Photoshop and Illustrator and these aid me to repeat, recolour and develop my designs, eventually creating large-scale abstract patterns for the Shima Seiki programme. I am also familiar with producing visualisation, mood and colour boards and I enjoy doing the research that goes alongside this.
